xanthan gum – Xanthomonas campestris

It is a polysaccharide with many industrial uses, including as a common food additive. It is an effective thickening agent, emulsifier, and stabilizer that prevents ingredients from separating. Xanthan gum is used for lowering blood sugar and total cholesterol in people with diabetes. It is also used as a laxative. Xanthan gum is sometimes used as a saliva substitute in people with dry mouth (Sjogren’s syndrome). Xanthan gum is used for diabetes, constipation, dry eye, and many other conditions.

Xanthium (clotbur) - Xanthium strumarium

Xanthium strumarium (rough cocklebur, clotbur, common cocklebur, large cocklebur, woolgarie bur) is a species of annual plants of the family Asteraceae. It is used to dispel wind and damp, and is one of the most important herbs used for sinus congestion, chronic nasal obstructions and discharges, and respiratory allergies. In the West, xanthium is employed as an analgesic to relieve aches and pains, and headaches associated with nasal congestion and sinusitis.

Xeranthemum plant - Xeranthemum annuum

It is a flowering plant species also known as annual everlasting or immortelle. It is native to eastern Europe and western Asia, is cultivated as a garden flower. It has become naturalised in other parts of Europe. For very long-time medicinal plants of this family have been used in the treatment of many diseases of the digestive, respiratory, and cardiovascular systems and skin diseases, as well as for the preparation of beverages, and as culinary spices.

Xerochrysum - Xerochrysum bracteatum.

It is known as the golden everlasting or strawflower, is a flowering plant in the family Asteraceae native to Australia. Among its properties are anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antitussive, astringent, diuretic, expectorant, fungicidal and cicatrizing. The French used this oil primarily as an anti-inflammatory to regulate cholesterol, stimulate the cells of the liver, and as an antispasmodic.

Xylosma tree–Xylosma congestum

It is commonly called dense longwood or shiny xylosma, is an evergreen shrub or small tree native to China, Japan, and Korea where it is found in forest margins and thickets. The aromatic wood is used for perfuming coconut oil and for making boards. Medicinal substances from plant species of genus Xylosma exhibit antispasmodic, narcotic, and sedative and against spider bites.

Xinomavro grapes - Vitis vinifera

Grapes are known to improve skin elasticity and improve blood circulation, which keeps skin looking healthy and young. The antioxidants present in grapes help reduce the appearance of dark spots, wrinkles, and other signs of aging. Grapes make a great home remedy for sunburns. Grape contains flavonoids, which can have antioxidant effects, lower the levels of low-density lipoproteins (LDLs, or “bad cholesterol”), relax blood vessels, and reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.

Xigua- Citrullus lanatus

For starters, lycopene, a type of carotenoid, doesn’t just give the watermelon its color; the antioxidant also works as a radical catcher within the body, reducing bad cholesterol. At the same time, citrulline dilates the blood vessels and consequently promotes blood flow. Bananas, watermelons and grapes are very healthy and nutrient-rich fruits that are excellent for a healthy liver. They are full of antioxidants and vitamins, which help the liver function properly.

Xylocarpus (Nyireh) - xylocarpus rumphii

It is a less abundant mangrove plant. There have been reports that different species of Xylocarpus are used ethnomedicinallly for treatment of various diseases such as fever, malaria, cholera, diarrhoea, swelling of breast, elephantiasis, inflammation, dyslipidemia, pain, hyperglycaemia etc. The plant possessed potent antioxidant, anticancer, antidiabetic, antimicrobial, antimalarial, antifeedant, and neuroprotective activities.

Xylocarpus ( puzzlenut tree) - Xylocarpus granatum

Commonly known as the cannonball mangrove, cedar mangrove, Xylocarpus granatum is a species of mangrove in the mahogany family. It is found in Africa, Asia, Australasia and the Pacific Islands. is traditionally used to treat various diseases including diarrhea, cholera, dysentery, fever, malaria, and viral infections, among others.
